Publishing house Dokořán was founded in 2001 by Zdeněk Kárník and Marek Pečenka – publishers with more than 10 years of prior experience in non-fiction publishing. Our non-fiction publications cover a wide range of topics, from natural sciences such as mathematics, physics and nature to history, social sciences and arts. The common denominator is the exploration of the impact of new ideas in all these fields on the present shape of Western civilization.

Our fiction series cover various topics and genres. The most successful series is our poetry collection called "Mocca" while our series of modern novels reflecting the European experience is also gaining popularity.

Up to December 2022, we have published more than 1,100 new books, about one third of which are translations from English, French, German, Dutch, Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian, Polish, Finnish, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Russian.
